Delta Center
The Delta Center is located at 301 W. South Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s a world-class sports and entertainment venue owned by Ryan Smith and operated by Smith Entertainment Group. Since opening in 1991, it has been the home arena for the Utah Jazz (NBA). From 2024, it will host the Utah Hockey Club (NHL).
The center has 18,306 seats for basketball games, 16,200 seats for hockey and indoor football, and up to 20,000 for concerts. There is also a range of premium seating and suite-level availability.
As well as regular games, the venue has hosted the 1993 NBA All-Star Weekend, multiple NBA Finals, NCAA men’s basketball tournaments, and the 1999 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. It was also a key venue during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Today, the Delta Center hosts a wide range of events. From sports to large-scale concerts, there’s something for everyone on the lineup.
Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz are a professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They compete in the Western Conference’s Northwest Division of the NBA (National Basketball Association). The team was originally established in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz but moved to Utah in 1979.
Team Colors and Mascot: The Jazz are known for their navy, green, and gold colors. Their mascot is a bear named “Jazz Bear,” who is known for his acrobatic stunts and fan engagement.
Playoff History: The Jazz have had significant playoff success but have never won an NBA Championship. They reached the NBA Finals twice, in 1997 and 1998, under the leadership of Karl Malone and John Stockton, losing both times to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
Recent Performance: In recent years, the Jazz have been competitive, often finishing as one of the top teams in the Western Conference. In the 2020-2021 season, they finished with the best record in the NBA, though they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.
Home Arena: The team plays its home games at the Delta Center (formerly known as Vivint Arena), which is known for its passionate fan base and altitude advantage due to Salt Lake City’s high elevation.
The Jazz are known for their strong team-oriented play, focusing on solid defense and efficient offense, and they maintain a strong presence in the NBA despite being in a smaller market.
